Course Description
This is a full-day, intensive workshop focused on the best tips and practices in manipulating still photographs. Upon completion, you will master tips and techniques you can apply to your very next project ? including how to color correct using simple but precise methods or color grade a shot to set the desired mood, perform your corrections and alterations non-destructively using layering procedures to meet the changing demands of your clients, isolate and alter image pixels using the multitude of hand tools, menu, and panel options, composite content from different photos and image sources to build a unique artistic image, and much more!
These techniques can also be applied to video as well.
Your FOCUS Instructor
Jason Paruta graduated from the University of Connecticut in 1996 with a degree in Fine Arts. He has been a versatile 3D instructor and freelance CG artist for various clients around the country. Jason's teaching experience has brought him to Future Media Concepts as a 3D/2D graphics instructor, teaching a large range of corporate and private clients. He focuses his freelancing efforts on 3D product rendering, architectural visualization, previz, character rigging, and animation. Jason teaches classes in Autodesk 3ds Max, NewTek LightWave, Adobe Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Prerequisites:
Students should possess a basic knowledge of working with pixels and vectors in Photoshop.

Selections
Tricks and shortcuts using hand selection tools
Utilizing color range and channels to extract detailed selections
Employing the pen tool for unparalleled accuracy
Layering
Using layers to quickly experiment and change your composite
Stacking layers and using blending modes to inspire creativity
Color Correction and Grading
Using Levels, Curves and Color Balance to improve faulty color and contrast levels
Applying Adjustment Layers using all the color adjustment tools
Stacking and applying layers using masks with efficiency
Working non-destructively to allow for future alterations
Hand Tools
Setting up brushes, cloning, and healing tools for working out the details in a photo
Using brush and vector libraries built into photoshop as well as the countless free libraries which can be downloaded online
