Challenges often occur between those in a neighborhood tasked with ensuring the covenants, deeds and restrictions are followed and neighborhood residents trying to be waterwise. Professionals in the Florida-Friendly landscaping field, including Ed Thralls, an urban horticulture agent, and Patrick C. Howell, Esq., will discuss how Florida-Friendly landscaping can enhance a neighborhood and how to put the right plant in the right place. They will also share challenges that have been faced by neighborhoods trying to allow residents to install Florida-Friendly landscaping and will be available to answer specific questions.Attendees will learn about resources that are available to help HOA board members and management companies work with residents to achieve attractive Florida-Friendly landscapes. Also on the agenda is a discussion regarding how a recently revised Florida statue which states that 'a deed restriction or covenant may not prohibit any property owner from implementing Florida-Friendly landscaping on his or her land' may affect their decision making.
