(You are responsible for your own drinks)Featured PresentationTrimming Indexes, Getting Your Database in ShapeSpeaker: Bradley BallSummary: Indexes are a wonderful thing. We should be using them, and we should be maintaining them. But over time our production databases start to look a little pudgy around the mid-section. Maybe they are a little bloated with Unused Indexes, maybe they have Duplicate Indexes, and possibly even Reverse Indexes. The first step to fixing these problems it so see if you have them, and if you do the second is to set about fixing them. You could be costing yourself CPU cycles, I/Op's, and space and never even know it.About Bradley: Bradley Ball is a SQL MCITP with over 10 years of IT experience. Bradley spent 8 years working as a Defense contractor for clients such as the U.S. Army and The Executive Office Of the President of the United States. He is a Sr. Consultant with Pragmatic Works specializing in DBA and BI solutions. He has presented at SQL Saturdays, MAGICPASS & OPASS, SQL Rally, DevConnections, SQL Live 360, and the PASS Summit. Bradley can be found blogging on http://www.SQLBalls.comPre-Meeting PresentationIntroduction to Extended Events (Part 1)Speaker: Jonathan Kehayias (Video replay from pluralsight.com)Summary: Did you know that Profiler has been marked as deprecated in SQL 2012? Extended Events are the new way to look at what's going on in your SQL Server and in part 1 of this 4 part series you'll learn how to use them to perform analysis and troubleshooting on SQL Server using either Transact-SQL or the Extended Events UIs. This series is applicable for developers, DBAs and anyone who uses SQL Server from SQL Server 2008 onwards. MagicPASS January 2013 Meeting 0.00
