the 2013 ‘Private Gardens of Historic Orlando Featuring Lake Eola Heights Historic District  Be sure to join the conversation on our 2013 Garden Tour FaceBook Page!!    On Sunday, April 21, the Lake Eola Heights Historic Neighborhood Association will present the sixth biennial tour of ‘The Private Gardens of Historic Orlando Featuring Lake Eola Heights’.  This year’s event will build on what has become a very popular feature on Orlando’s calendar of gardening events. The tour is designed to provide our guests an opportunity to experience some of the charming, hidden places found within the neighborhood.  Take your time, stop and smell the roses and stroll along beautiful brick streets dappled by sunlight that has been filtered through a veil of oak boughs and Spanish moss.  This is an opportunity to share some truly unique and enchanting garden spaces in the neighborhood and actually speak with those who are responsible for their creation. In an effort to blend art with natural beauty, the local Plein Air Artists will be back for this year’s tour too!  Artists will be painting in the gardens.  What could better compliment the beauty of nature than fine painting in a natural setting?  Paintings featuring the gardens on display will be available for sale.  There will be musicians playing in a few of the gardens to add another note of enjoyment to the experience.  Plant vendors will be set up at ‘Garden Central’ to allow guests to purchase plants for their gardens at home.  Complementary Pedicabs will be available on the day of the tour. The self-guided tour begins at noon and ends at 5:00 pm.  Tickets will be $10.00 if purchased in advance and $15.00 on the day of the tour.  You may pick up tickets in advanced at the Handy Pantry Grocery, otherwise known as ‘Garden Central’, which is located at 522 East Amelia Street, at the intersection of East Amelia Street and Cathcart Avenue.  There will be a total of 10 homes and you may visit as many as you wish.  Proceeds will go to the Lake Eola Heights Historic District and other local charities.  Hope to see you there!  Pre-Order 11.54 Day of Tour 16.82
