This is a 4 Class series that will show you the many different aspects of Meditation, breathing and how it can help heal the body and mind. Lisa McDonald will guide you through various breathing techniques to draw a fuller breath into the lungs using standard Hatha Yoga and Kundalini Yoga techniques. Materials will be provided about meditation techniques and the benefits of regular meditation.
Friday, October 11, 2013 - 7:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
We will practice our breath again, adding "Breathe of Fire" which can help release endorphins to bring us to a closer state of bliss before we move into our guided meditation. In this series we will work on releasing emotional stress which include gentle asana and supported, supine (laying down) poses. We will also learn gazing techniques.
Week 3 - Friday, November 8, 2013 - 7:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
We will work on energizing our chakras in this meditation series through a series of poses specific to each of the 7 chakras. Handouts will be provided for this series, starting with our root chakra and working up to our crown chakra. We will do two poses for each chakra and a guided meditation after the asana poses. Sound therapy will be used for root and heart chakras.
Dealing with Anxiety and Pain
Week 4 - Friday, December 13, 2013 - 7:15 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.
In this final workshop of the series, we will focus on overall health and stability to help alleviate pain and anxiety. These will be offered techniques that can be used during the busy holiday season to help reduce the pain of traveling and anxiety about holidays. There will be two long meditations offered that hit upon the 61 marma points of the body and sound therapy using brass singing bowls and a chime.
In the entire series, we will be using essential oils that also help with stress relief. These are all natural extracts from herbs, flowers and citrus that are a natural way of alleviating stress and pain. The oils will only be used at the beginning of class on the shoulders and at the end on the feet. If you have sensitivities to oils or aromas, or do not wish to have them applied, please let us know.
Lisa McDonald is the former owner of YogaFix Orlando, and is a registered Yoga Instructor in Central Florida. She was certified through Edely Wallace of Yoga Matrix Studios in Orlando and has been teaching yoga since 2009. Lisa is also certified through the Yoga Bala and Kundalini Yoga Center to teach meditation and meditation techniques. She is a regular practitioner of yoga and has written a book called "It's Okay to Breathe." Lisa currently teaches at a few healing centers and yoga studios in the Orlando area.
