Billy Joel Has Axl Rose as Special Guest in LA

Billy Joel played Dodger Stadium in LA Saturday night and Axl Rose joined him for a couple songs. AC/DC’s “Highway to Hell” has kind of become a staple in Billy Joel concerts. Billy doesn’t sing it, someone else comes out for that while he’s on guitar. This time that someone was Axl Rose. Considering Axl stepped in on tour last year with AC/DC when Brian Johnson was sidelined for hearing loss, Axl’s got this one down. That was all well and good… then he came back. During the encore, Axl returned for “Big Shot.” Judge for yourself with the videos below but I’m not sure I’m a fan. Granted the audio quality isn’t great, but it was so weird hearing Axl’s very distinctive voice on that one. Maybe it’ll grow on me… or not. What do you think?

Happy Birthday Bob Seger

Bob Seger is a tried and true American rocker. He celebrates his birthday on May 6th. His fame really started to kick in with his “Live Bullet” album. So with that in mind I figured one of the best ways to say happy birthday to Bob was with some live tracks of his. Below are a number of live videos from different points in Seger’s career. Then the final video I just felt was appropriate on Bob’s birthday.

See Inside Sting’s $56 Million Penthouse (It’s For Sale)

Wanna see how the other half lives? Or maybe you ARE the other half…in which case, you can make a bid for the penthouse Sting and wife Trudie Styler are selling for $56 million. It is said to be one of the world’s most powerful addresses – 15 Central Park West in New York City. The views are pretty spectacular and so is that kitchen – but $56 million? I’d rather have an estate in the country. Or buy a country ; ) See the spectacular pictures here.

Robert Plant’s Website Message Prompts Speculation On Zeppelin Reunion

Ever since Zeppelin said goodbye after John Bonham’s death in 1980 there has been rumors of reunions. In all these years the band has only played together 3 times. They played at Live Aid in 1985, The Atlantic Records 40th anniversary show in 1988 and the 2007 Celebration Day show in honor of Atlantic co-founder Ahmet Ertegun. So before we get to what started these most current rumors, lets acknowledge the fact that a reunion is unlikely at best. Now that we’ve said that on to the current state of things. If you visit right now you’ll see a cryptic message that reads “Any time now…”. Some people claim Robert, alleged lone holdout in a Zeppelin reunion, has accepted an offer to perform at Desert Trip 2017. Others say it is about a new album from Plant and his band The Sensational Space Shifters. Plant has always kept album details close to the vest so this could very well be what this is all about. No matter what, as soon as I get any concrete word on what the message means I’ll let you know.

Watch Danica Patrick Give Steven Tyler A Wild Ride

Steven Tyler is a pretty lucky guy. But being the front guy for a kick ass band like Aerosmith isn’t all fun and games. Some times the paparazzi can be overwhelming. When that happens Steven knows he can rely on friends like the most successful woman in American open-wheel racing, Danica Patrick. Watch what I mean below. I wonder if I was out in LA if Danica would consider me famous enough lol.

Listen: New Fleetwood Mac Track!

How would your kids react to AC/DC?

I can’t stop watching this! These kids’ reactions are awesome – especially Sydney, age 9… she is my spirit child. One day I will have a child like her! Not only do they react to the songs, they’re also shown a picture of Angus Young and they all chime in on his school boy outfit. So funny! We learn a few things… AC/DC songs are universal, eeeeeverybody knows “Back in Black”,  and “Hell’s Bells” is kind of an acquired taste apparently. So have a few good laughs and rock out with this….

New CNN Series Explores Music as a Part of History

This new CNN series looks right up our alley. “Soundtracks: The Songs That Defined History,” premieres this Thursday night at 10pm. It looks at the songs that are tied to “pivotal moments in history.” They used the Queen, David Bowie collaboration “Under Pressure” for the trailer (below), which has Billy Joel, a huge history buff, talking about how music expresses humanity. The 8-part series is produced by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Steve Perry Solo Album Coming!

They were on their feet screaming for him…but it didn’t work. Former Journey lead singer, Steve Perry, chose not to pick up the mic to sing with the band at their Rock Hall induction a couple of weeks ago. Perry was obviously touched by the overwhelming love being sent his way (listen to his entire speech below) but, after completing his speech, disappeared backstage and let current Journey singer, Arnel Pineda, sing the songs we know and love so much. The good news is…he is promising a solo album this year. Now, it should be noted, he has been talking about releasing a solo album for a couple of years now. This time, it sounds a lot more promising. After the Rock Hall induction ceremony April 7th, Perry told ABC Radio he had begun recording. “I met someone and I fell in love with this person,” he told ABC Radio. “And I lost this person to breast cancer four years ago. In the midst of that, I had written some songs, and before I met her I had sketched some. And so about a year ago, I started recording.” We’ll let you know as soon as we hear a release date is etched in stone.

We’ll Be At Welcome To Rockville, Will You?

Coming up on April 29th and 30th Welcome to Rockville will invade Jacksonville. Myself and Rob Stone are going to drive up and cover 2 days of Rock, food and so much more. How could I not go to a festival that includes my name. Among the food choices will be Bacon Invasion and Pie Hard. They both sound like worthwhile visits. The list of bands is quite long and it features Def Leppard wrapping it up Sunday night. We’ll be there talking to bands, eating and hoping to see you too. Check out the schedule of bands below and get all the other info you need here.

Def Leppard’s Phil Collen Talks The Band’s Live Show, Jimi Hendrix, Delta Deep And More

Def Leppard have been pretty busy over the last couple years. They released their self titled album at the end of 2015. Hitting the road after it’s release they had to have a temporary replacement at times on the road for Vivian Campbell who was fighting cancer. They also postponed some dates so Joe Elliott could rest his voice. Then they came back hitting hard and released their live DVD “And There Will Be A Next Time – Live From Detroit”. They bring this incredible live spectacle to the Welcome to Rockville Festival on Sunday April 30th. I spoke with guitarist Phil Collen about all that plus his side project Delta Deep and more. Give a listen below.
