Oh, snap. Them's fightin' words.

After a few years of Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page expressing frustration that singer Robert Plant has been unwilling to reunite surviving members of the band, Plant has fired back.

Plant has issued quite a few successful solo albums in the post-Zep years, including the Grammy-winning partnership with Bluegrass singer-songwriter-fiddle player Alison Krauss, Raising Sand in 2007.

Now he's challenging his former bandmate to do the same, instead of trying to resurrect the sound they were known for previously.

"He should get on and do something. He's a suberb talent. That's the sad thing for Jimmy. He knows that I'm his guy, I'm his pal. But the warmth that he needs to actually enjoy the world, it's all there. Come on and give it to us."

Plant's next Americana album, "lullaby...and the Ceaseless Roar" with his band, The Sensational Shape Shifters, is due out September 9.
