Bill Kitchen from Windermere is an unknown hero to many of us adrenaline junkies. Kitchen invented the indoor wind tunnel machine for indoor skydiving, that was sold and is now known as the iFly company. Prior to that invention he created his best known thrill ride, the Sky Coaster, the huge swing that pulls people up by a cable and then drops them to let them swing hundreds of feet in the air. The tallest one on the world is in Kissimmee at 300 feet, but it has become so popular there are now Sky Coasters on every continent but Antarctica.
The only downside to the sky coaster, for those brave enough to fly on one, is that only up to 3 people can ride at a time. Now the man some call the Willy Wonka of Thrill Rides has an even bigger ride that can allow up to 24 people to swing at a time, and it goes much higher. What is tentatively being called the “Insanicoaster” will use the same swing technology and design, but with a circle of seats holding up to 24 people around it, and could hoist people much higher than the current Sky Coaster does. Plus with the circular seat design, once the cable releases the riders, they will start to spin as they swing so everyone gets to swing from all directions.
All I can say it PLEASE BUILD IT IN FLORIDA SO I CAN RIDE IT EVERY DAY!!!!! Also, Mr. Kitchen, if you need someone who isn’t an engineer, but who’s super smart and has crazy ideas for thrill rides, I’m available. You don’t even have to pay me, much, just let me ride the rides free and I’ll be happy.
