September 15th. Sadly, in 2019, we lose guitarist, songwriter, singer, the front man from The Cars, Rick Ocasek.
It’s not the only sad day. 2008, we lose keyboardist from Pink Floyd, Rick Wright.
And then also today in 2004, another sad day, is we lose John Cummings. You may know him better as guitarist and founding member of The Ramones, Johnny Ramone.
Today in 1983, Huey Lewis and the News released their album “Sports.” This is a monster for the band. It does go to #1 and it gives them four top 10 singles. It’s also one of a trio of albums specific to their name because the first album was a self-titled album, News. This one, “Sports”, and the third album was “Weather.”
Today in 1980, David Bowie makes his debut on Broadway as the Elephant Man.
And today in 1979, “In Through The Out Door” by Led Zeppelin hits number one on the album charts. It stays there for seven weeks. It looks good for the band for the future, but sadly this is the last studio album the band releases before losing drummer John Bonham the following year and then eventually calling it quits.
