The Mac Attack Cometh!

The new incarnation of Fleetwood Mac will play the Amalie Arena in Tampa on Monday, February 18. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 4 at 10am – with a presale starting the day before, at midnight Thursday, May 3.  EVENT DETAILS

Now that guitarist/singer/songwriter Lindsey Buckingham has been ousted from the band, Fleetwood Mac has hired two musicians to fill his very big shoes.

Guitarist/songwriter Mike Campbell of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn are now members of Fleetwood Mac.

As the tour was announced today, the band gave several interviews where, obviously, they were asked why they parted ways with Buckingham. Their answer: He didn’t want to start touring for another year.

Almost a full year ago, the band had started promising to announce tour plans this spring. So that kind of delay presented a problem.

Stevie Nicks told Rolling Stone:  “We were supposed to go into rehearsal in June and he wanted to put it off until November [2019],” says Nicks. “That’s a long time. I just did 70 shows [on a solo tour]. As soon as I finish one thing, I dive back into another. Why would we stop? We don’t want to stop playing music. We don’t have anything else to do. This is what we do.”

Visit 1 of 7 Mom & Pop Record Shops Tomorrow on Record Store Day!

For a music-lover, there’s nothing that can replace a real, brick & mortar record store.

There are 8 in our area: 5 in Orlando, 2 in Deland and 1 in Sanford. (Store locations, links and hours listed below.)

You can spend hours in a record store, browsing the vinyl or the stacks of CDs, for treasures. And, perhaps the best part of the experience is the music that is played while you’re shopping. 9 times out 10, you’re gonna be turned onto something new by the staff members who are blasting music of every genre.

Sadly, so many people are buying music online that independent, brick & mortar, Mom ‘n Pop record shops are having a tough time keeping their doors open.

Enter: Independent Record Store Day!

It started 10 years ago and because of the great experiences music-lovers and musicians remember having in record stores over the years, the most popular bands and artists in the world support this musical holiday by offering up exclusive releases only available at independent, brick & mortar, record shops.

You need to get there early as these treasures will be snatched up quickly. But really, the day is more about enjoying the experience of a REAL record store.

GO! – and bring your kids with you. Find the albums, CDs and cassettes you forgot you loved in high school. Bargains await and you’ll be supporting your neighbors’ businesses.

Lindsey Buckingham Leaves Fleetwood Mac

The end of an era – again.

Lindsey Buckingham is no longer a member of Fleetwood Mac. For the second time in the their history, the guitarist has left the group, according to Variety.

The band has announced that Heartbreakers’ guitarist/songwriter/producer Mike Campbell will be joining the band for the upcoming tour.

Stevie Nicks and Mike Campbell are tight, as she has been called an “honorary Heartbreaker.”

No details have been shared to shed light on what brought this about – just yet.

Kansas is celebrating the 40th anniversary of their “Point of Know Return” album by playing the album in its entirety at the shows on this tour.

Richie Sambora To Perform BEFORE Rock Hall Induction

EX-Bon Jovi guitarist/songwriter Richie Sambora has been slated to kick off Rock Hall induction week in Cleveland April 7.

Sambora will be performing with his on and off-stage partner, guitarist Orianthi.

This is seen as a good indication that Sambora will also be re-joining his former band of 30 years as they are inducted to the Rock Hall at the April 14th ceremony.

Many fans are hoping these events lead to a permanent reunion between Sambora who stopped performing together in 2013.

Sambora’s role in the band was significantly more than “guitarist”. He provided key backing vocals and created some of the most well-known guitar riffs for huge hit records he co-wrote with Jon Bon Jovi – including “Wanted Dead or Alive,” “Livin’ on a Prayer” and “You Give Love a Bad Name.”

Highlights of the Rock Hall induction ceremony will be shown on HBO at a TBD date.

It’s National Puppy Day!!!

What Should Our “Official” State Dog Be?

12 of our United States have named an “official” state dog.

Some are no-brainers.

Maryland’s state dog is the “Chesapeake Bay Retriever,” for instance.

Florida does not yet have a state dog. So we’re collecting your suggestions…

Gainesville Asks: How Best to Honor Tom Petty

As soon as Tom Petty passed, the Gainesville artists, residents and students created tributes on the famous 34th Street Wall and the walls of businesses all over town.

Skyrocketing Cost of Insulin, Kills…

Poison frontman Bret Michaels has been a Type 1 diabetic for most of his life.

He is in the fortunate position of being able to afford the expensive drug that keeps him alive – insulin.

Many are not so fortunate. Of course, this applies to sufferers of many different diseases who cannot afford insurance coverage and/or medication.

After hearing the heartbreaking story of a 26-year-old restaurant manager who died, trying to stretch his insulin supply to make it to his next paycheck, Bret Michaels released the following statement:

“As an individual living with Type 1 diabetes since the age of 6, the story of  Alec Raeshawn Smith in  Minneapolis, Minnesota moves me. To start, my prayers & condolences go out to his family. As a brittle diabetic myself who is insulin dependent with a varying intake of 5 injections per day, I am committed in working towards a resolution to pull all parties together so that this never happens again. Like many others, my very life depends on the availability of insulin. In order for a resolution, we need to begin the conversation & I will personally make every attempt to discuss with President Trump as well as Secretary Of Health & Human Services  Alex Azar in an effort to pull together the appropriate parties to begin this conversation.

I have lived with diabetes mostly all of my life & I have seen it claim the lives of family members & friends. It is the reason I fought so hard to win Celebrity Apprentice & it is the reason I continue to raise large sums of money for the American Diabetes Association & JDRF. It is the reason I raise diabetes awareness & the reason I send children to diabetes summer camp through my Life Rocks Foundation where they can learn to manage their diabetes, make friends with a common bond & so they can “just be kids”. –  Bret Michaels”

The Olympics Get a Dose of AC/DC

You know we were JUST talking about how we’d like to see some Olympic skating routines use some rocking music and here comes Hungary’s Ivett Toth last night in the Ladies’ Short Program .

Not only did she set her routine to AC/DC’s “Back in Black” and “Thunderstruck,” she did it while rocking the black pants, studded belt, and a leather vest with Angus Young on the back! No frilly costumes for this rocker!

This girl is my new hero! Love it.
