CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Two children have died after a fire broke out in a Southern California home overnight, authorities said.

According to KNSD, the blaze began about 12:30 a.m. local time at a house on Coralwood Court in Chula Vista, a San Diego suburb. Firefighters said four people – a mother, father and two children – were home at the time, the news outlet reported.
Both children were pronounced dead at the scene, Chula Vista fire Capt. Linda D’Orsi told KNSD. Reporters with KFMB and KSWB also confirmed the news.

Crews rushed the children’s father to a nearby hospital for treatment of severe burn wounds, authorities told KNSD. The mother also survived the blaze, the outlet reported.
The investigation is ongoing, officials said.
