Missing Missouri man, 2 toddler sons found dead

Three bodies found in rural Missouri on Monday have been identified by authorities as a father and his two sons reported missing Friday.

Investigators with the Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that the bodies of Darrell Peak, 40, and his two sons, 3-year-old Mayson Peak and 4-year-old Kaiden Peak, were found Monday evening near Warsaw. The trio had not been seen since Thursday night, KY3 reported.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office, which originally issued the endangered persons advisory, said the bodies were found together inside a structure, KMBC reported.

“Dozens of leads were generated, and despite the family’s belief that Darrell would not harm his children, on Feb. 28 detectives decided to pursue criminal charges for the arrest of Darrell, hoping that this would generate additional tips and leads,” the sheriff’s office said in a prepared statement.

In turn, Darrell Peak was charged Monday morning with two counts of parental kidnapping, The Associated Press reported. The discovery of the bodies was made several hours later.

Detectives made several attempts to have an Amber Alert issued, but the case did not meet the criteria. The Greene County Sheriff’s Office and Missouri State Highway Patrol issued the endangered persons advisory at 4:30 p.m. Friday, KY3 reported.

No causes or manners of death have been released.
