Raymond Hill III, 24, was taken off life support Tuesday, two days after he was shot in the St. Roch neighborhood of the city, WVUE-TV reported.

Hill was identified by the coroner’s office as the man who was wounded in the early evening shooting, NOLA.com reported. He was taken to an area hospital by paramedics, according to the news organization.

Hill was wounded by four bullets, WVUE reported.

“If you think about a rainy day and the sunshine pops out on a rainy day, that’s him. They took my sunshine,” Hill’s mother, Kendra Washington told the television station. “My son was just lovable to everybody he met like he was aggravating loveble, you know? If you’re having a bad day, he just keeps poking instead, just see your smile.”

Hill was running errands to get supplies for a family barbecue when he accepted a DoorDash order, WVUE reported.

“I don’t know how him working turned into me burying my child,” Washington told the television station.

Washington said her son was respectful, funny, and charismatic. He loved fashion, cars, and enjoyed rapping, she said. He was waiting for his orders from the National Guard in November, according to WVUE.

“(What) I was more worried about him was work the borders and overseas, when I was supposed to be worried by what was going on here,” Washington told the television station. “We have no control; the city is running rampant.”
