Four students were killed and six students and one teacher were injured during the shooting on Nov. 30, The Associated Press reported.

Ethan Crumbley, 15, has been charged as an adult with first-degree murder, assault with intent to murder and terrorism. He has pleaded not guilty.

His parents were also charged after officials said they bought the gun used in the rampage. They were charged with involuntary manslaughter and for breaching their responsibility after they were alerted about their son’s drawings depicting violence, but decided to allow him to remain in school, hours before the shooting, the AP reported.

Since the shooting, the school has undergone repairs and has new paint, wall graphics and ceiling tiles, the AP reported. The students will be greeted with notes of encouragement written by elementary and middle school students, The Detroit Free Press reported.

There are safe rooms where students can go for alone time or to speak with a crisis counselor, WXYZ reported. Therapy dogs will also be on hand to help students cope, according to the Free Press.

Extra security was also scheduled to be on campus.

Students will be required to use clear backpacks, The Detroit Free Press reported.

“We have been through so much to get to this moment. We’ve been grieving together, we’ve been praying together, we’ve attended funerals, vigils and memorials and we have been absolutely heartbroken. And we’ve been angry,” Principal Steve Wolf said in a video posted to YouTube on Sunday, hours before students returned to their classrooms. “Yet we’ve been determined to carry on ...And we are reclaiming our high school back.”

Students had been out of school in December and returned to learning at Oxford Middle School on Jan. 10, WXYZ reported.

About 1,500 students are enrolled at Oxford High School, the Detroit Free Press reported.
