Nobody can ever replace Chris Cornell and I’m sure everybody knows that. But in an awesomely pleasant surprise, Taylor Momsen did an amazing job stepping into those enormous shoes.
If you didn’t know, Soundgarden had a reunion for the halftime show during the season opener for the Seahawks vs Patriots game, the annual replay of the Super Bowl that kicks off the NFL season now.
The 3 original members, Kim Thayil on guitar, Matt Cameron on drums, and Ben Shepherd on bass, were joined by Taylor on vocals, and Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready on 2nd guitar because Cornell also played guitar. They performed their great hits Outshined AND Spoonman and sounded absolutely epic! And for Spoonman they had the Seahawks Blue Thunder Drumline join them for the killer drum bridge.
Check it out.
And in case you didn’t know Soundgarden was formed in 1984 and Chris Cornell named the band after a pipe sculpture on NOAA property in the Sand Point area of Seattle.
