David Lee Roth made news the other day when he announced that his 5 upcoming shows at the House Of Blues in Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas will be his last. He’ll start that run of shows New Year’s Eve, and then play again January 1st, 5th, 7th, and the 8th will be his final performance ever. He even mentioned recently that after Eddie passed last year, he and Alex Van Halen had rebuilt their friendship. He’s said publicly that “And you know what? I just spoke to Alex Van Halen. We’re about to celebrate our 50th year of ragging on each other.” If you can get through some of Dave’s ridiculous rambling banter here, he says it at the end.
Now I’ve seen from 2 sources that David Lee Roth has said openly that Alex Van Halen will be behind the drums at David’s final shows ever. Both of these sources, Metalwani and Outlook India, look to be just websites, and I can’t verify their info anywhere else. But Dave had been back with VH for many years, playing with Eddie, Alex, and Wolfgang on bass, and its always a possibility that Alex will join him for those final shows. If I hear anything else or can verify this with a more reputable source I’ll be sure to share it with you.
