Ethan

Ethan was born with a microphone in his hand, much to the surprise of his parents and the entire maternity ward. He was born in California, did a 2 year stint in North Carolina and ended up in Texas. West Texas to be exact. Lubbock. You’ve probably only heard of Lubbock because of Buddy Holly, Patrick Mahomes, or the extremely high per capita STI rate. Or maybe not at all. Ethan started pretending to be a DJ as a kid with that portable tape recorder and microphone everyone had in the 80’s where they always ask “is that what my voice really sounds like?”. Yes, yes it is what your voice really sounds like. As a kid growing up in west Texas back then, you listened to country music because it was the law. After being fed a steady diet of Eddie Rabbitt and Kenny Rogers for a couple years, Ethan’s musical world was shattered the very first time he heard Pink Floyd’s “Another Brick In The Wall Pt. 2” on the local rock radio station. From then on Ethan would need no, and do everything he could to get no, education. But he was only around 5 years old then so . Ethan’s first experience as a DJ was in 4th grade when his school allowed a few lucky students to run a pretend radio station over the intercom in school. He thought “if I can be the radio DJ then girls will think I’m cute and talk to me.” They didn’t. After a wholly unremarkable and almost incomplete high school career, college didn’t sound like fun, even though he’d seen Animal House like 50 times. That was until he met a really hot woman who happened to be on the college radio station. It was then that he decided to go to school because he thought “if she’s hot and she’s on the radio, if I get on the radio people will think I’m hot too.” They didn’t. After only a year of doing college radio for free, he decided getting paid to do it is way better, and getting paid to be on the radio will for sure make people think I’m cool now. They didn’t. But he got a job on the coolest station in town any way, the rock station 94.5 FMX. And at least he thought he was cool. Fast forward 25 years and I’m in Florida. I think part of the reason I moved is because west Texas is covered in sand, but sadly has no beaches, and I love the water and everything about this tropical life we have here.
