There are quite a few rock stars who went on to have very successful solo careers after parting ways with their bandmates. For example, Sting when he left The Police and Phil Collins after his departure from Genesis.

On the other hand, there are the rock stars that tried the solo route and it just didn’t work out.

Ultimate Classic Rock put together a list of rock stars whose solo careers didn’t go off as planned...

1. Freddie Mercury of Queen

2. Gene Simmons of KISS

3. Steven Tyler of Aerosmith

4. Tommy Lee of Motley Crue

5. Debbie Harry of Blondie

6. Vince Neil of Motley Crue

7. Courtney Love of Hole

8. Scott Stapp of Creed

9. Boy George of Culture Club

10. Noel Gallagher of Oasis
