If you want to accomplish anything in the music business you need to constantly be working. One person who never seems to take a break from the work is Vixen guitarist Britt Lightning. Recently Britt and Tommy London dropped the debut single from their band The Jetsetters. The song is “Above The Noise.” We caught up with Britt to discuss the band, the single, future plans and so much more.
The single has a fresh, rock sound with crisp production.The video is visually striking. You can see it just below. We discussed so much of what went into the songs creation and the video. Choosing a song to announce your band to the world can’t be easy, but Britt shared with us “That one was just, just felt right. Like it was a high energy one.It was just pretty straightforward. It just felt right.”
The natural question when you get a single from a band is, will there be more. Britt told us “Well, we did actually record a full album, but since then we’ve been writing more and more and now we’re like, oh wait, we like this song better. Let’s record this and switch that song out for this song. So we’re still deciding on that.”
Britt somehow found the time to write and record for The Jetsetters while creating the band with Tommy. She did that all while touring with Vixen and being the musical director for Rock and Roll Fanatasy Camp. One important thing Britt points out is “i’ve got Vixen, and i’m still in Vixen by the way. Everybody was asking me like, and i’m like no just because i have another thing. You know Roxy does Madam X. Like everybody has other projects.” Which is something Britt addressed in the social media video below with her Vixen band mates.
The band currently consists of Britt and Tommy along with drummer Valerie Franco from Spinal Tap and bassist Johnny Martin from L.A. Guns. This is the band in the video and the band that will do the first shows in LA coming this fall. Britt also mentioned looking to bring the band to New York and Boston as well. It is easy to see that the coordination to organize shows for the band will be quite the monumental task.
Britt and I also took some time to talk about her being a part of the “Women In Metal” exhibit with Vixen at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. We also spoke about her signature guitar from FU Tone and signature Morley wah pedal.
