One of the musicians I follow on Facebook is Kevin Roentgen. If the name isn’t familiar that’s no surprise, but he played guitar in Buckcherry from 2017 to 2020, and a band he was in back around 2012, called Goldsboro, was hand picked by Guns N’ Roses to open a couple of their L.A. shows, and some of their Vegas residency shows at The Joint At Hard Rock Hotel.
The other day he was digging through some old saved stuff he had from when he lived in L.A. in the 80′s and stumbled across an original Gun N’ Roses flyer from a January 4th, 1986 gig at the Troubadour on Santa Monica Blvd. Not one of the Sunset Strip clubs, but only a couple blocks south of that scene.
Here’s the flyer, reposted with Kevin’s permission:
According to Kevin, and some of his friends that were in L.A. during those years, the flyer will get you $2 off the at the door, but the original ticket price to get in was only $6! $6 to see GnR in 1986? that’s pretty rad. And this was during their Move To The City years, which was on their fake live EP Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide, which was actually a studio recording of 4 originals and 4 covers with crowd sounds from the Texxas Jam concert. I also love their plea on the bottom for fans to send donations to their “Guns N Roses Keep Us Out Of Jail Fund”. Must have been a hell of a scene to be a part of. But at least some old school memories and relics like this still exist.
And here’s an early audio clip of them playing Welcome To The Jungle at the Troubadour in ‘86.
And here’s actual video from the Troubadour of Rocket Queen.
