Well, it looks like Queen won’t be hitting the road any longer for live shows.
Brian May says he’s done touring, which means that Queen is done touring. He said, “I made a decision 18 months ago that I didn’t want to tour again.
He added, “I love to play, I love to travel, but the trade-off is sacrificing your freedom. I have a wife, grandchildren and a lot of astrophysics I want to do, so I’m thinking maybe 50 years is enough.”
Brian says Queen could live on in the form of some sort of “immersive experience,” possibly with “shows” in Vegas at The Sphere. However, he’s not onboard with that just yet because the technology doesn’t exist to do it without the use of AI and that’s a problem for Brian.
Shortly after his interview, Brian said his words were a misinterpretation of what he said. According to The Times, he corrected himself by saying the following:
“I have actually never said Queen won’t ever tour again. I could never say never. I simply made a personal decision last year to take a break from touring. I’ve been making lots of music, and Roger [Taylor] and I are constantly working together on Queen projects behind the scenes. I don’t know what the future holds. I’m ever open to new adventures.”
So, it sounds like they’re taking a break, but open to more shows, if the perfect situation presents itself.
