Friday Flashback: Van Halen Celebrates the Blue Angels in “Dreams” Video

I’m embarrassed to say I didn’t know anything about this video until Joe Rock mentioned it to Denise and I the other day.

Van Halen used footage of the Blue Angels for the video of “Dreams” and it was a win-win-win for the band, MTV and for Navy recruiting.

Apparently, the idea came from one of the record dudes at Warner Bros after seeing Top Gun and thinking it would have been even better with a rock soundtrack.
