When I got the email from the promoter about a possible interview with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson to talk about his memoir, The Lives OF Brian, I immediately requested a time slot, not thinking I would get one. Usually with artists or celebrities at this level, its mostly the biggest stations in the biggest markets that get all the prime spots, and spots are always very limited. So when I got the reply email a few days later with a time slot for me, I was ecstatic. But then there was a situation, and all the interviews were postponed. Often when this happens, they don’t get rescheduled for a long time, if ever. But amazingly, this one did get rescheduled, and really quickly too! So when I got the 2nd email with a new time slot, I knew it was really going to happen. And it did!
Brian’s memoir is so good I finished it in just 2 nights. And as I read it I was taking notes and coming up with questions I wanted to ask him, eventually holding 3 pages of possible questions to pick from. But Brian is such a great storyteller that when I actually got on the phone with him, I barely asked him 1 or 2 questions total, and he just told his story. And it is an awesome story, that you can hear for yourself.
Plus, Brian’s story shows how much respect he had for Bon, but the respect that Bon had for Brian. Even though the didn’t actually know each other when Bon was still alive, they both knew who the other was, and Bon even mentioned Brian to the rest of the band at one point, talking about his powerful singing voice. And the rest is history.
