Mickey Thomas From Starship Called And We got Knee Deep In The Hoopla

Mickey Thomas is one of the iconic voices of the band that was either Jefferson Starship or just Starship depending on when you listened. He helped redefine the band’s sound in the 80′s when they saw their biggest success and of course their biggest hits, We Built This City and Sara. Plus, if you didn’t already know, Mickey is also the singer you hear in Elvin Bishop Group’s Fooled Around And Fell In Love.

Of course most remember his voice from his time with Starship.

Something I discovered in our interview is that Starship was originally asked to do Highway To The Danger Zone for the original Top Gun movie but passed on it and Kenny Loggins got the gig after. Here’s a little more about that story.
