Mockumentary Fans Rejoice As A Spinal Tap Sequel Is Happening!

Live Earth London - Backstage LONDON - JULY 07: Spinal Tap's Christopher Guest (R) poses with Harry Shearer (L) as the latter holds a marrow backstage during the Live Earth concert at Wembley Stadium on July 7, 2007 in London, England. Live Earth is a 24-hour, 7-continent series of concerts involving over a 100 music artists and 2 billion people aimed at raising awareness of global climate change. That’s right! The 1984 classic This Is Spinal Tap is getting a sequel, and not only is Rob Reiner back as the original mockumentarian, Marty DiBergi, but all 3 original members of the band are back too. According to Deadline, Rob Reiner will return to direct, and original stars/writers Christopher Guest, Michael McKean and Harry Shearer return as Nigel Tufnel, David St Hubbins and Derek Smalls, respectively. The sequel currently dubbed Spinal Tap II will see a 2024 release to coincide with the movie’s 40th anniversary.

Personally I’d like to see the title really punch it up with something like Spinal Tap II: The Re-Tappening, or Spinal Tap II: Stonehenge’s Revenge, or something along those lines.
