The death of Walter Becker | Today in Rock September 3

September 3rd, 2017, it’s a sad day. We lose co-founder of Steely Dan and their guitarist, Walter Becker, at only 67 years old.

Today in 1982, Steve Wozniak, 1/2 of the founders of Apple, has the US Festival. He does it in San Bernardino in the blistering heat. It’s about 200,000 people that come out. He says he threw the festival for a few thousand of his closest friends. There is not only the heat, there’s dust and of course there’s the music. The Talking Heads, the Ramones, Pat Benatar, Eddie Money, the Police, the Grateful Dead. The headliner for the festival is Fleetwood Mac. It’s their first time playing together in a couple of years and truly a successful festival.

Then we take a look at today’s calendar. We find a couple rock birthdays on it. Guitarist from the Sex Pistol Steve Jones and blues icon Freddie King.
