May 23rd, 2010 Bret Michaels wins Season 9 of “CelebrityApprentice.”

Today in 1987 The Doobie Brothers do a reunion show that includes singer/guitarist Tom Johnston. It’s a benefit for veterans and it happens at The Hollywood Bowl. It leads to a full on reunion tour for The Doobie Brothers.

On this date in 1979 Tom Petty declares bankruptcy. His record label had been sold and his contract was just going to be transfered to MCA Records. Tom took issue with that and he was fighting it in court. It didn’t seem to be going his way so when he declared bankruptcy it halted all legal procedures. It ended up working in Tom’s Favor.

Also today in 1979 The Who documentary “The Kids Are Alright” premieres in New York, as well as today in 1969, The Who’s “Tommy,” a Rock opera about a deaf, dumb and blind kid who plays pinball is released.

Today in 1966 The Doors play their first gig. It happens at The Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood. The Doors end up becoming the house band for The Whiskey for quite a while.
