In case you didn’t hear the sad news, ZZ Top longtime drummer, Frank Beard, passed away on Monday at the age of 77-years old.
Frank was part of ZZ Top dating all the way back to 1969 when the trio formed in Texas.
Billy Gibbons, lead-singer and guitarist, has released a statement addressing the loss of his longtime friend and bandmate...
“Today, Elwood [Francis] and I lost a great friend and collaborator, and the world lost one of the most naturally innovative drummers and a great and true son of Texas,” Billy F. Gibbons shared on the band’s Instagram page.
He added, “His signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on top.”
So, what’s next for ZZ Top? Billy said their upcoming shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs have been canceled. Their tour will resume this weekend, after taking a few days off to mourn the passing of their dear friend.
