Naked woman seen climbing up tree accused of murder, police say

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — A Florida woman who deputies said ran through a neighborhood naked and climbed a tree is accused of murder, authorities said.

Sheree Latoya Williams, 34, of West Palm Beach, was arrested on Sunday and charged with first-degree murder, according to Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office online booking records.

Williams made her first appearance in court on Monday, WPTV reported.

According to a probable cause affidavit, police received a call at 9:12 a.m. EDT on Sunday about a disturbance involving a woman “running around naked.” Police said that Williams was a tenant of the person who called police, living in a one-bedroom efficiency located behind the main residence in West Palm Beach.

After the landlord attempted to convince Williams to put her clothes back on, he went to her apartment and opened the door, the affidavit stated.

Inside, the man found a black female dead “with a black cord around her neck,” according to the affidavit.

Deputies arrested Williams and took her to an area hospital for treatment, according to WPEC-TV.

After Williams was released, she was interviewed by detectives at the sheriff’s office, according to the arrest affidavit. According to deputies, Williams allegedly confessed to grabbing a black cell phone charging cord that belonged to the victim and strangled her to death.

Williams allegedly told deputies that she believed the victim was “trying to sacrifice her for financial gain” based from “vivid dreams” she had experienced, according to the affidavit.

Williams remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bail, online records show.
