Someone Dug Up Video Of Jimmy Page At 13 On British TV Talking About Playing Guitar

I saw this posted to Instagram yesterday, so I went and found a longer clip and more info about it. It’s Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page at age 13 on a Huw Weldon’s British TV show called All Your Own, from April 1957. He’s in a group and they play two rather old songs called Mama Don’t Want To Skiffle Anymore and Cottonfields, or The Cotton Song.

Skiffle is an old American style of folk and blues, the same songs that most early rock bands were listening to, and ‘borrowing’ off to make the next generation of rock

Notice how the host asks Jimmy if he’ll keep playing skiffle, and Jimmy says he’d like to do biological research, instead lol. He did get to do plenty of that in Zeppelin what with the groupies and all...

Thank god both TV and music improved exponentially, many thanks to Jimmy himself. This TV show just seems creepy to me. And the music? Well I’m sure at one point the songs were popular.
