Spooky sleepover: Sony, Vacasa team up to offer 3-night stay in ‘Ghostbusters’ firehouse

PORTLAND, Ore. — If you “ain’t afraid of no ghosts,” then vacation rental company Vacasa has the perfect listing for you and a handful of friends just in time for Halloween.

Vacasa, in partnership with Sony, is offering one gutsy group of friends a three-night stay in a recreation of the firehouse used in the 1984 flick “Ghostbusters,” CNN reported.

The available dates have been appropriately set for Oct. 28-31.

The firehouse in question is located in Portland, Oregon, however, and not New York City, where the fan-favorite flick is set. Built in the 1880s, it features two bedrooms, one bathroom, a full kitchen and sleeps five, according to the listing.

Despite its West Coast locale, the three-story listing provides all the essentials needed to launch a specter-hunting startup: a psychokinetic energy meter, ghost traps, proton packs, an aura video-analyzer and an ecto-containment unit for all your spooky storage needs.

Meanwhile, the hearse-turned-emergency-response vehicle, Ecto-1, is already parked in the firehouse bay. (Of course, we cannot be certain a poltergeist hasn’t been playing hide-and-seek with the keys again.)

According to CNN, the lucky troupe will not only be granted the nostalgic nightly rate of $19.84 per person, but guests are welcome to wear the provided Ghostbuster jumpsuits and snack on Stay-Puft marshmallows.

“We’re dedicated to the details, and this Ghostbusters Firehouse in Portland is no exception,” Allison Lowrie, chief marketing officer at Vacasa, told the network.

“Every room brings a new discovery, from an interactive Ghost Containment Unit to symmetrical book stacking and walls upon walls of scientific, ghost-hunting equipment. It’s designed to be enjoyed by ‘Ghostbusters’ superfans and travelers with a sense of ‘80s nostalgia alike,” she added.

According to CNN, the immersive experience is being offered on a first-come, first-served basis, and booking opens on Oct. 21.

Meanwhile, do not, under any circumstances, forget the sole house rule: Don’t. Cross. The streams.

Why?

“It would be bad. It would be a total protonic reversal…”
